The Chaigneau family bought this 21-ha, 500 year-old former hunting estate (11 planted to vines) in 2000 and have since been making natural wine here, working organically (HVE-certified) and by hand, vinifying with native yeasts, and never filtering.
“Located in Barsac, some thirty kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, Château Massereau, a 16th-century building and former hunting lodge for the Dukes of Epernon, towers over the rows of vines that run down to the Ciron River, in a Natura 2000 listed environment.” Chateau Massereau
